For many individuals entering the perinatal period, the transition can introduce new stressors and physiological changes that require extra care to maintain emotional wellness for the whole family. In the pursuit of supporting the mental health of pregnant and postpartum individuals and their partners, Integrative Psychiatrist, Christina Ford, MD values holistic and strengths-based care. In this interactive webinar, Dr. Ford will address practical approaches to integrative care in maintaining mental health during and after pregnancy including her 5 S’s: support, sleep, sustenance, self-care, and supplementation. Dr. Ford will share how she engages collaboratively with those she serves to explore both proactive and preventative support measures to mitigate risk factors for perinatal mental health such as nutrition, movement, spirituality, and meaning-making.

Christina Ford, MD (she/her)
Dr. Ford received her BA in English from Barnard College/Columbia University and her MD from the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She completed both her Adult Psychiatry Residency and a Fellowship in Women’s Mental Health at Harvard Medical School (Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical Center/Brigham & Women’s Hospital). In addition to her private practice and consulting work, Dr. Ford serves as Board Chair for FEAST, a South Los Angeles-based NPO dedicated to democratizing the health and wellness of the community through scholarships for healthy ingredients, nutritional education, and emotional support groups.
