Creating Systems that Work

Maternal Mental Health NOW drives meaningful systemic change by promoting the adoption of robust, evidence-based practices for the prevention, screening, and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.  We do this through our integration initiatives in Los Angeles County and by advocating for statewide legislation to ensure that all persons who are at risk, or suffering from, a perinatal mental health problem, have timely access to appropriate, quality care.

BILL IMPLEMENTATION

Maternal Mental Health NOW and 2020 Mom co-sponsored AB 2193 (Maienschein-R) and AB 3032 (Frazier-D), two of the first bills to be passed in California that advocate for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. These guides have been created as a resource for providers who are affected by the legislation. They include information about each bill, and share resources and practices based on the lessons we’ve learned throughout Maternal Mental Health NOW’s history of working locally and beyond with physicians, health care providers and mental health clinicians, diverse community organizations and public agencies, hospitals, clinics, and many other stakeholders essential to furthering our collective mission.
