This webinar will explore the risks of untreated mood disorders in pregnancy, including the association between Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and adverse perinatal outcomes including preterm delivery, low birth weight, and preeclampsia. We will discuss options for psychotropic medications in pregnancy as well as the barriers to treatment from the perspective of both the patient and the Obstetrician.
Eynav Accortt, PhD (Cedars Sinai Medical Center)
Eynav Accortt, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist whose research focuses on mood and anxiety disorders during the female reproductive life course and in response to chronic illness. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of OBGYN at Cedars-Sinai, she is also interested in the association between maternal mental health and adverse birth outcomes.
Sarah Smithson, MD (Cedars Sinai Medical Center)
Dr. Smithson is currently a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Research interests include postpartum depression and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. She graduated from residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. She attended medical school and received a Masters Degree in Medical Education and Leadership at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME.
