SUMMARY:2023 Conference
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \n\nReproductive access and choice deeply impact mental health. Individuals who experience reproductive oppression\, such as those living in states where abortion is illegal and families impacted by the criminal justice and/or child welfare systems\, are at a higher risk of experiencing perinatal mental health challenges. \nReproductive justice (RJ) is a social justice movement initiated in 1994 by many Black midwives\, public health\, and community activists\, including Loretta J. Ross\, Dr. Dázon Dixon Diallo\, and Dr. Toni Bond. The movement emphasizes that all reproductive bodies deserve access to the care and resources to support their reproductive needs such as family planning\, contraception\, prenatal and postpartum care\, paid family leave\, and abortion. In addition to the right to choose to conceive\, carry\, or release a pregnancy\, RJ entails the right to have and raise a baby in a safe and life-affirming environment with dignity and respect. \nThis 6 hour continuing education training will dive into the legal and ethical dilemmas related to reproductive justice that providers of perinatal mental health care confront in 2023. Through a trauma-informed lens\, we will discuss the implications of social and political factors on birthing people and their mental health. Presentations will include an exploration of clinical documentation and legal mandates\, considerations for supporting pregnant and postpartum people experiencing incarceration\, and mental health impact of the overturn of Roe vs. Wade. \nFor further information and to register\, click here.

SUMMARY:2022 Conference
DESCRIPTION:Just as no two people experience perinatal depression and anxiety the same way\, neither is there a one size fits all approach to their care. Whole person care takes into consideration cultural influences\, diverse belief systems\, mind/body integration and alternatives to or that complement conventional Western medicine. Current movements within healthcare toward inclusive and culturally responsive interventions inspire and inform this conference. Our keynote presentations and interactive workshops will offer multi-disciplinary approaches to perinatal mental health care. \nConference participants will join a collaborative discussion with a wide range of healers to re-imagine the future of holistic care for individuals on their reproductive journeys. Attendees will hear from leading change-agents who will share advancements in research and innovative approaches to the mental\, emotional\, and physical healing of those entering parenthood. The conference will take place June 2-3\, 2022\, from 8a-4:30p and will be hosted in-person at the Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Westside and will live stream online. \nThank you to our sponsors California Health Care Foundation\, Health Net\, L.A. Care\, First 5 LA and Mahmee. \nRegister Today!

SUMMARY:Legal and Ethical Dilemmas in Perinatal Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:The field of perinatal mental health may present clinicians with unique legal and ethical dilemmas with an abundance of grey areas to traverse. Concerns about parent\, infant and child safety are keenly present for providers supporting families on their reproductive journey. Additionally\, ethical dilemmas may arise as clinicians navigate providing equitable care with cultural humility while meeting legal and ethical standards of licensure governing boards. \nThis 3-part\, 3-day continuing education workshop series pairs legal and clinical voices in conversation to help us problem solve these complex and ever-evolving challenges. Topics include: promoting safe boundaries\, child abuse and neglect reporting\, managing high risk cases and practice risk management\, and implicit bias. \nPlease join us for what is sure to be an informative\, interactive and practice transforming series! Register for individual workshops for $40 each or all three workshops at the discounted rate of $100. \n\nThis course meets criteria for 2 CE credits each\, or 6 CE credits total for LMFTs\, LPCCs\, LCSWs\, LEPs\, and psychologists through the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) in the state of CA. Please view the conference brochure for full accreditation details. \nVIEW BROCHURE \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Perinatal Mental Health Conference for Black Birth Workers\, Clinicians & Providers
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking conference for Black-identifying birth workers\, providers and clinicians in the Los Angeles County area. The “2021 Perinatal Mental Health Conference for Black Birth Workers\, Providers\, and Clinicians” is a 4-part virtual event\, 4/30\, 5/7\, 5/14\, and 5/21\, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm each day. Tickets are free to Black birth workers in the Los Angeles area. \nOur mission is to engage Black clinicians and providers to increase the capacity and competency of the community. Our goal is that Black families will have more opportunities to find specialized perinatal providers who look like them and with whom they can relate. We will present foundational knowledge on perinatal mental health care through a culturally-informed lens. We want to assist the community in building concrete skills and tools to more adequately address the mental health needs of Black women and birthing people and aim to address this specifically within the Los Angeles County area. \nClick here for –> CONFERENCE BROCHURE \n\nTickets are free to Black birth workers in the Los Angeles area for the virtual event. We are currently only able to offer conference seats to those working in Los Angeles County or primarily serving clients in Los Angeles County. We hope to extend the training and content to others in various ways over the upcoming year. \nRecording of the full conference will be available to purchase for $199 once the conference is over. There will be scholarships available for BIPOC identifying providers.  If you are interested in purchasing the recording once available\, please click here. \n\nThis conference training is approved as a prerequisite for the PMH-C exam by Postpartum Support International.
